An Unusual Pharmacy

Central Indiana has an abundance of drug stores conveniently located throughout the area. At most drug stores, you can not only get a prescription filled but also have a roll of film developed or buy a gallon of milk for the kid’s cereal in the morning.

For smaller pharmacies, like Cardinal Healthcare Pharmacy in New Castle, outstanding customer service is the key. And for the store’s clientele, that dedicated commitment to the customer is greatly appreciated.

Bruce Hinshaw (pictured below), who opened the pharmacy nearly 20 years ago, still spends time behind the counter filling prescriptions. Most of the pharmacy’s customers, especially the elderly, appreciate the personal attention and have been coming here since the beginning. Customers are still treated in the same, friendly way and pharmacists and staff know most of their customers by name.

Cardinal Healthcare makes a large contribution to the community. Familiarity with its customers allows Cardinal to be able to give more thorough advice to clients, especially when it comes to the new Medicare drug cards.

In keeping with the spirit of customer service, Cardinal Healthcare Pharmacy will go the extra mile, such as offering free county-wide prescription delivery. Cardinal’s home healthcare department also offers products that anyone would need to be independent at home.

"That department has everything from crutches to lift chairs to respiratory equipment," said Sue Hood of Cardinal Pharmacy. "Everything is delivered and set up in the home with instructions on how to use the equipment."

Cardinal Healthcare Pharmacy also has a wellness department that specializes in vitamins and nutritional supplements, as well as consultations in women’s health concerns.
